For Really Radical Relaxation
I am qualified in Holistic Massage and have over twenty years’ experience and additional continuing professional development under my belt. If I’ve learnt anything it’s that there is no single formula for massage, and there’s no easy way to describe the work!
True holistic massage relies on a unique, artful and skilled process of touch and response. Sessions are tailored to meet the needs of the client on the day, combining awareness of their physical, mental, and emotional landscapes. It’s not about performing a standard, pre-planned routine.
I aim to meet people gently with presence and kindness and offer integrated, intuitive, flowing and heartfelt massage – a profoundly relaxing time and space in which healing can take place. Drawing on my hypnotherapy experience, I am also very happy to integrate visualisation and breath work, as appropriate, to help clients gain the most from their treatments.
Over the years my treatment style has become slower, gentler and more and more spacious. If it was a yoga class, it would be yin or restorative. If it was design, it would be minimalist.
Everything! I believe massage can have a profoundly positive influence not just on the body, but on mind and spirit too. Alongside the many physical benefits, such as helping with pain relief, increased mobility and range of movement, and assisting injury recovery, a good treatment offers a powerful way to reconnect with one’s inner self, accessing the wisdom and knowing that’s held deep within.
The profound relaxation that good massage brings can reconnect us to states we’ve all but forgotten amid our busy lives. When we allow it, we can rediscover peace, healing, self-compassion, clarity and creativity.
Treatment might be for a specific physical issue, pain or injury; for relaxation, grounding and acceptance following challenging news or a difficult situation; for celebration – what better way to enjoy a day off or kick-start your holiday?; or simply yet profoundly for ongoing wellbeing.
Many clients use ongoing massage for personal development and self-awareness. Others come and go through injury recovery; in periods of illness or medical treatment; and in times of change or difficulty.
Massage works well with other treatments too and many clients use it to complement acupuncture, counselling, chiropractic, osteopathy, physiotherapy or psychotherapy. Many GPs also recommend it alongside their care.
A one-off session can be a great boost, but holistic massage is most beneficial when it’s part of your regular self-care routine. Working with the same massage therapist over time allows exploration and discovery of what gives you the best results, deepening and enriching your massage experience session by session.
The benefits are cumulative and fortnightly or monthly appointments are highly recommended. Most of my clients book ahead as they feel better just knowing the next session is already in the diary.
Teaching & Supervision
CPD for Massage Practitioners
Supervision offers a safe, confidential professional space for you to discuss, explore and practice all things massage – whether you’re newly qualified or an experienced massage practitioner.
Nothing is off limits – from revisiting anatomy, physiology and pathology, to revising techniques and developing new ones; from pondering price rises to comparing massage oils.
We can look at body-use and easier ways of working, discuss ideas for marketing and publicity, share real life experiences and ask those awkward questions with likeminded people who will ‘get it’.
It’s invaluable support and a great way to stay connected with fellow practitioners.
Sessions can count towards your CPD (continuing professional development) hours.
