The week of 2nd – 8th March 2015 not only includes my 43rd birthday, but is also Sleep Awareness Week 2015!
America’s National Sleep Foundation has just released its latest poll, finding, “pain joins two related concerns – stress and poor health – as key correlates of shorter sleep durations and worse sleep quality. But there are paths to resolving the problem: The sleep gap narrows sharply among those who make sleep a priority.”
Not Sleeping Like A Log?
Are you someone who finds it difficult to get off to sleep at night? Minutes become hours and the clock just stares back at you. Or perhaps you get off to sleep just fine, but wake around 3 – 4am and struggle to get back to sleep again. Insomnia is both a growing problem, and a lonely experience. Author Poppy Z Brite sums it up for a lot of people, “the night is the hardest time to be alive and 4am knows all my secrets.”
What To Do About It?
It’s one thing to take comfort in the fact that you are not alone. It’s another to do something constructive about it. Jane took a chance and you can read about her experience with me when insomnia led her to try hypnotherapy here.
If you need more motivation, have a listen to neuroscientist Jeff Iliff’s fascinating TED Talk highlighting new research giving “one more reason to get a good night’s sleep”
It was hypnotherapy that turned my sleeping around too, and it’s what motivated me to train as a hypnotherapist and help others, like you. You can check out my story here.
